Miscellaneous Sakai Tech Notes

This section will be continuously updated to include technical notes and workarounds for using Sakai.

Accented or Foreign Characters Warning

There is a known bug in Sakai using accented characters in any title in any tool. For instance, if the title of an Assignment or a Resource contains an accented character, it will cause problems. For example, the characters á, ø, ñ, ü, etc will cause issues.

However, these characters can be used in the body of an Assignment or within an uploaded document. If you have any questions, please send an email to: support@sakai.ucla.edu

[Applies to Sakai 2.0.1]

Long File Names and Paths

We have discovered another bug in Sakai wherein uploading files with very long file names or file paths can cause instability in the system. Until this issue can be resolved, please try to keep uploaded resource names brief. It may also ease the situation to upload the file from "My Documents" instead of a folder buried deep within other folders.
