Here is our peacock image before and after the adjustments we've just made.
As you can see, with only the minor adjustments we've made throughout this tutorial, the resulting image is brighter and more vibrant than the original scan. It is a nearly identical recreation of the original slide.
Lastly here is a version of the same slide scanned without the benefit of color management software and calibrated equipment, and without any image editing.
As you can see, this image is "skewed" toward green, while our final image has a fuller range of color and brightness values.
