TAC Central Seminar Overview

The training seminar is held in the fall quarter every year to train and provide support for the Teaching Assistant Consultants. All TACs are required to attend the seminar. 

Seminar Objectives

  • To familiarize TACs with teaching strategies that are relevant to the Teaching Assistant
  • To define the responsibilities of the TAC as well as the limitations of the job
  • To train TACs to be more effective at teaching graduate students to teach
  • To model active learning techniques and a student-centered learning philosophy
  • To build a community of support for the TAC
  • To discuss current problems or issues that arise in the departmental seminars
  • To alert TACs to some campus resources that can aid TAs in teaching undergraduates
