TA Mini-Grants
Mini-grants provide a great opportunity to improve your course by funding extras such as guest speakers, special materials for classroom demonstrations, or even appropriate field trips for your students. Mini-grant funds for instructional improvement of existing undergraduate courses are available to teaching assistants through the Office of Instructional Development and the TA Training Program. They provide funds for those items or activities that are not the normal responsibility of departmental budgets and that are over and above the normal duties of teaching assistants. Any small-scale project offering instructional enrichment will be considered. Visit www.oid.ucla.edu/grants/minigrants for details concerning the appropriate use of mini-grants.
Generally mini-grant funds will not be granted to both faculty members and teaching assistants for the same course; therefore, it is essential for the teaching assistant to coordinate requests with the faculty member in charge of the course. A brief consultation appointment with the TA Training Program Coordinators is suggested before submission of a mini-grant proposal. For further information about the mini-grant program, contact or visit the Office of Instructional Development at 310-825-2790, www.oid.ucla.edu/grants/minigrants, or minigrnt@ucla.edu. The TA mini-grant application is available online.
