UCLA Specific TA Resources
2007-2008 TA Handbook
The TA Handbook is a great starting place. It is an indispensable guide for new and returning TAs with information on campus resources, academic policies and procedures, and pedagogical tips. The handbook is available here online, or you can contact us and we'll send you a copy through campus mail.
TA Hiring Procedures and Titles
Learn more about the official procedures for hiring of TAs, disbursing of fees, and TA titles by visiting the website of the Graduate Division.
Teach 2 Write
No matter what subject you’re teaching at UCLA, you’re also teaching some kind of writing to your students, whether it’s an essay, a lab report, or an abstract. Chances are, you haven’t had much training in how to do it. Your training can begin with the teach2write website.
Mini-Grants
Mini-grants are available to TAs as well as to faculty members. OID provides each TA the opportunity to request up to $250 each academic year for small-scale projects which improve existing undergraduate courses. To find out more about the mini-grants or how to apply visit the Mini-Grants Program Overview, call the Mini-Grant Program office at 310 825-2790 or email minigrnt@ucla.edu. You can also Download a TA Mini-Grant Form here (pdf format) .
