The UCLA Brain Research Institute (BRI), the Henry Samueli School
of Engineering and Applied Science (SEAS), and the Jet Propulsion
Laboratory (JPL) have joined forces in a major new educational
program, the UCLA-JPL NeuroEngineering Training (NET) Program. This
cooperative effort is perhaps unique in that it encourages students
to work at the relatively underdeveloped but fertile interface
between engineering and neuroscience.
NET Ph.D. students take a curriculum designed to encourage
cross-fertilization of the two fields. The goal is that
neuroscientists and engineers learn to speak each others' language
and move comfortably among the intellectual domains of the two
fields.
