Instructional Media Production Archives

Instructional Media Production has a heritage stretching back to the mid-1950s with the founding of UCLA ETV. This page is our chance to reflect on how far we've come. It's also our way of celebrating the triumphs (and the follies) of our founders, our present production staff, and all the creative people who have worked here in between.

This is our second bi-monthly installment. We hope you find the selections interesting, entertaining, thought-provoking, or just plain weird. We hope, also, that you will like them so much you will want to use them in your classes. The Instructional Media Library has copies of all of our productions which are available for screening in class or at the Instructional Media Lab. If you want to contact us about any of them, please feel free. We'd love to hear what you think.

To view these files you will need the RealPlayer, available free of charge from Real Networks. We recommend the G2 player, since these presentations use features unique to that player. Visit our tools page for information on downloading and installing the RealPlayer software.

Mildred Mathias: A Lifetime of Memories
Mildred Mathias began her association with UCLA when she drove her Model T cross country from St. Louis shortly after UCLA moved to Westwood. She later returned to become one of the most distinguished members of our faculty. Our botanical garden is named after her and her work has forever changed the landscape of Southern California.

Roth Quartet: The 16 Quartets of Beethoven
In 1966, UCLA was riding high in the arts. We had our own world-class sculpture garden and a resident, professional repertory theater group. (Maybe you've heard of them. They moved to the Music Center and became the Center Theater Group.) And we also had our own string quartet in residence! This program is the first episode of an uncompleted series with the distinguished quartet led by Feri Roth.
