Front Desk Image Front Desk

This is the main circulation desk where clients check-in and check-out. The client must leave a photo ID at the desk, and may borrow headphones if needed. The lab staff member will assign the client to a room or carrel where he/she may use the media.

Viewing Carrels Image Viewing Carrels

This is one of the individual viewing carrels. There are over 40 carrels available to clients for viewing media. The carrels are connected to VCRs, laser disc players, and NTSC 3/4" U-matic players. Two persons viewing the same title may also share a carrel by borrowing a headphone splitter from the front desk.

Audio Carrels Image Audio Carrels

There are 10 audio carrels, which have tape recorders that allow you to listen, record, and play back your voice in order to practice pronunciation. The decks also have a "skipback" feature, which facilitates transcribing audio materials. This equipment is primarily used for English as a Second Language, foreign languages, communication studies, and sociology. NOTE: Musicology tapes are available at the College Library Circulation Desk, and must be used on machines in the library's first-floor reading room.

Rooms Image Rooms

There are 8 viewing rooms available for small groups or entire classes. The largest room available seats approximately 34 persons, and the smallest room is suitable for three. Only instructors and TAs may make reservations for rooms, all other clients may use them on a first come, first served basis. Clients must have at least two persons in order for room assignment.
