Evaluation of Instruction Program (EIP)
The Evaluation of Instruction Program (EIP) is designed to help departments conduct evaluations of instructors, courses, and curricula, and help instructors evaluate and improve their own teaching.
EIP provides forms, analyses, and reports for evaluation for courses, instructors and teaching assistants. Standard, TA, and open forms, that departments can tailor to their specific needs, are available. The Evaluation of Instruction Program distributes more than 300,000 forms annually to over 110 departments and programs campus-wide.
Guide to Evaluation of Instruction
We offer an online publication detailing evaluation policy at UCLA, the Guide to Evaluation of Instruction. This is a comprehensive compilation of university policy, methods and literature regarding instructor evaluation.
Online Evaluation Pilot Program
EIP is currently offering course evaluations online as part of a test pilot program. To see which departments are using either online or paper evaluations, please visit our Evaluation Coordinator Directory page.
Please visit our Online Evaluation Pilot Program page for more details.
Each department that EIP provides service to has one person designated as the Evaluation Coordinator.
For online evaluations, the Evaluation Coordinator informs instructors and students about the process, checks course registration data for accuracy and oversees reports released to the department.
For paper evaluations, the Evaluation Coordinator is responsible for obtaining evaluation supplies, distributing the materials to the classes to be evaluated, organizing the course envelopes prior to sending them to EIP and distributing the data once we have returned it to the department.
If you need to know who is the Evaluation Coordinator for a given department or program, please visit our Evaluation Coordinator Directory page.
Please visit our Evaluation Coordinators page for resources intended for their use.
Test Scoring Service
The Test Scoring Service is offered free of charge to instructors and TA's who are administering multiple-choice tests for their classes. If you would like to know more about this service, please visit our Test Scoring Service page.
