The most commonly asked questions regarding OID's workshops

Who teaches the workshops?
The current workshops are being taught by Jack Bishop, OID's Instructional Technology Specialist; Dan Bustos, OID's Technology Coordinator for Classroom Services; Jim Williamson, Manager of OID's Teaching Enhancement Center, or Elaine Blakeman, the Teaching Enhancement Center's Instructional Designer..

Where do the workshops take place (and how do I get there)?
The workshops will be held in 186 Powell Library Building. To get there enter Powell Library through the entrance on the east side of the building. Proceed straight ahead to the main hallway and turn left. Room 186 is the 3rd and 4th doors on the left hand side. (Interactive UCLA Campus Map)

What times are the workshops?
The morning workshops begin at 10:00 and the afternoon workshops begin at 1:30. Please make every effort to arrive 5 to 10 minutes early to allow time for setting up the individual computers.

Who are the workshops for?
The workshops are intended for UCLA faculty and teaching assistants

Can I send my Teaching Assistant?
Yes, but just think of all the informative fun you will miss!

How long are the workshops?
Typically, the workshops run around 50 minutes.

Do you do individual training?
The workshops are not geared toward individual training, however, such training is available through OID's Teaching Enhancement Center (TEC). For more information, please contact the Teaching Enhancement Center.

Do I need to bring my computer?
Not necessarily. OID can provide eight PC and eight Mac laptops for attendees to use during the workshops. If you prefer to bring your own please feel free.
 
Do you cover both Macintosh and PC versions of the programs?
Most programs covered are very similar on both operating systems making the workshops cross-platform friendly.

Do you take requests for future topics?
Yes and yes! OID is always open to suggestions for future workshop topics. To make a suggestion, contact OID HERE.

Do I have to register for these workshops to reserve a spot?
Registration is not necessary for the workshops, but seating is limited to 32.

Do you charge for these workshops?
OID's training workshops are FREE for UCLA faculty and teaching assistants.
