Elluminate Live Campus Pilot

Information page for the campus pilot of Elluminate Live - Winter 2009

What is Elluminate Live!

Elluminate Live is a browser-based virtual meeting room which can be used for instructor-led courses, office hours, student or project collaboration, remote guest lecturers, live demos or application training or online seminars and workshops.

Why Elluminate?

In Fall 2008, the UCLA community was polled for interest in pursuing a campus agreement with a virtual meeting software that would meet most users needs and integrate with UCLA's CCLE.  A pilot team was formed and three products with strong reputations in the education community as well as integration with Moodle were evaluated.  These were Wimba Classroom, Adobe Acrobat Connect Pro and Elluminate Live.  Of these three, Elluminate was chosen as the product to pilot further.

Based upon a series of criteria developed at the begining of the project, pilot participants will be asked to evaluate their experience using Elluminate.  If the pilot is successful, administrators will work to develop a cost sharing method for the campus and announce the agreement.

How can I participate in the pilot?

If you are affiliated with one of the departments or units listed above, you should contact the pilot administrator for that unit to discuss the possibility of joining the pilot and scheduling training.  If you are note affiliated with any of the pilot units, you can still explore Elluminate Live on your own, by requesting a vRoom directly from Elluminate on their website.

How can I participate in the campus agreement?

Contact Software Central to indicate that you are interested in participating in the agreement.

Where can I get training?

Training for most pilot participants occured in person on December 11th and 12th.  If you were unable to attend those training sessions, you can view recorded training or sign up for Live Online training on Elluminate's website.

Where do I get Technical Support?

Technical Support for pilot participants will be coordinated through your Pilot Administrator as listed above.  General Technical support and online help is available at Elluminate's website.

Can you help me with audio issues?

Elluminate has provided this best practices audio guide to help moderators and participants setup and manage their audio.  In addition, UCLA moderators should consider requesting a UCLA audio conferencing account from CTS.  Once you have this account you can place that information in your meeting setup and provide teleconferencing as an audio option (in addition to VOIP) for your meetings.  For instructions on how to do this down this PDF.

I still have a question, who do I contact?

Send an email to Tom Trappler and Michelle Lew, they'll do their best to answer your questions regarding this pilot.
