Faculty Committee on Educational Technology

The 2006-2007 Committee has:

Copenhaver Award for Innovation in Teaching with Technology: two faculty members were chosen to honor for their achievements in instruction, bringing the total number of faculty to 17 who have been recognized for their work over the five years in which this award has been given.

Common Collaboration and Learning Environment: the committee selected Moodle as the software platform for UCLA's CCLE and supported the first steps, provided by volunteers, of implementing a common service for early participants during spring quarter, 2007

CCLE Interoperability
: the committee recommended that UCLA remain engaged with the higher education community in planning and achieving next-generation inter-operability. In particular, the FCET requested that a priority be placed on the migration of innovative tools from Sakai and taking steps that would enable inter-university teaching of courses, such as common authentication and sharable resources. WASC: the FCET drafted the reflective essay for the UCLA accreditation theme "Using Educational Technology to Enhance the Student Academic Experience". The essay highlights the progress resulting from the IEI initiative, OID services, digital library services, the CCLE selection, Educational Technology leadership and IT governance. The challenges for the future were identified as being those of supporting educational innovation, building a cohesive instructional technology environment and providing educational technology leadership and coordination.
