Services for Faculty

Did you know:

• OID in conjunction with the Committee on Instructional Improvement Programs provides grant funding to instructors and departments to support major projects designed to enhance curricular experimentation and development and to improve undergraduate instruction.
• OID has staff to help instructors learn and use technology and multimedia in the classroom.
• OID offers regular workshops for instructors to help them teach with technology.
  
• OID houses a collection of instructional video and audio tapes that can be reserved for use in the classroom or the media lab.
• OID is responsible for installed and portable media equipment in all general assignment classrooms.
• OID provides videoconferencing and media services for events.
• OID has media conversion grants to facilitate the digitization of instructors' slides and video footage so that it can be used in course websites and in the classroom.
  
• OID can videotape your lecture or special event and provide professional editing and webcasting of the taping.
• OID can digitally capture your undergraduate course lecture in video and/or audio format and provide the material to your students through the BruinCast program.
  
• OID provides support for Personal Response Systems ("clickers") in classrooms.
  
• OID distributes and processes course and instructor evaluations and provides scannable test scoring services (a.k.a. Scantron) to the campus.
• OID organizes training for teaching assistants as well as oral proficiency testing for international TAs.
• OID and the Academic Senate Committee on Teaching sponsor an annual award for distinguished teaching.
